About Me
I bring two decades of non-profit leadership and experience launching national strategic and research initiatives, conceptualizing networked improvement communities, and forging diverse partnerships to address gaps in the field and ultimately improve stakeholder outcomes. Most recently I served as the inaugural Executive Director of a first-of-its-kind, National Science-Foundation-funded initiative to identify transformative engineering research directions and to catalyze pursuit of innovative, high-impact research that benefits society. Previously, I led grant-funded efforts to improve instruction and broaden participation as a Program Director for STEM Education Research at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). My role as the inaugural Director of Research, Innovation, and Data Strategy at the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) built on earlier experience as an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Pre-Doctoral Training Fellow at Johns Hopkins University and my background as a middle and high school art teacher in Baltimore City and Fulbright Scholar. I have evaluated and mentored students, educators, and programs and look forward to working with you.

Success Stories
"I am SOOOOOOO happy with this draft!
Thank you for truly listening to us about the project, reading the material we provided, and making substantive comments and changes. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you."
"Working with Jennifer on my grant writing this year was a wonderful experience. She helped me to distill my scientific work into a compelling narrative that clearly communicated my ambitions and potential impact. Her attention to detail and deep understanding of the funding landscape also ensured that I submitted the strongest proposal possible. am grateful for Jennifer's expertise and highly recommend her to anyone seeking top-notch grant writing support."
“Jennifer gave our team excellent advice on a very complicated proposal with a lot of moving parts. She cleared away a lot of uncertainty about addressing the requirements so that the scientific leads could focus mainly on their vision, and she didn't shy away from pushing us to make sure that the scientific narrative connected as much as possible with the review criteria. Early in my career, I didn't have this kind of support, but it would have made it a lot easier for me to ramp up if I had!"
Senior Director of NLP Research
"Jennifer reviewed our NSF Racial Equity in STEM grant proposal with an expert’s lens. She was thorough in pointing out both strengths and areas of weakness that could be improved upon, stemming from her prior experience in winning NSF grants in the K-12 racial equity field. Importantly, she indicated specific approaches to improve our proposal that we would not have otherwise thought about.
I would absolutely work with Jennifer again, if given the opportunity."
“I am new to the world of grant writing, but Jennifer really took our proposal under her wing and nurtured it into existence. Her thoughtful responsiveness, timely feedback, and consistent organization helped shape a potentially challenging process into a joy.
I would highly recommend her for your writing needs and hope we are able to work together again in the near future.”
“Having Jennifer join our grant team was essential to submitting a strong proposal for a competitive federal grant.
Jennifer provided great expertise and guidance, allowing our team to meet a tight deadline. She helped us identify gaps, request the necessary data to support our project’s strategy, and translate our ideas in a cohesive and compelling narrative.
I strongly recommend her services to expand the capacity of small agencies or to lead an inexperienced or lean grant writing team.”
“Jennifer Carinci was an extremely valuable writer for our NSF grant team. Her experience guided our institution in presenting a holistic and detailed description of our programs and funding needs for a competitive grant. She worked quickly and thoroughly, and we felt she was in sync with our team from the start. We look forward to working with Jennifer on more projects in the future.”
